Creating an avatar
Describe the presenter you want, pick their scenes and voice, and change the look of any avatar later, including its ethnicity, age and style.
Your avatar is the face of your videos, so it should look like the people you're talking to. This guide walks through creating one from a description and changing one you already have.
The presenters you saw during onboarding
When you sign up, Pamba reads your website and offers three ready-made presenters for your first video. Those are picked from a shared library, so they won't always match your audience. They are only a starting point: you can create your own avatar at any time and use it for every video after that, or change the look of the one you picked (see "Changing an avatar you already have" below).
1. Open the avatar creator
Go to Accounts and click + New avatar. You can also ask the chat assistant: "Create a new avatar for me" works, and it follows the same steps below.
2. Describe the person
Type a description of who you want on camera. The more specific you are, the closer the first result will be. Cover:
- •Who they are: ethnicity or heritage, skin tone, gender, and age range.
- •How they look: hair (color, texture, style), build, glasses, facial hair.
- •How they dress: casual, professional, church clothes, athleisure, streetwear.
- •Their vibe and where they film: warm and upbeat, calm and thoughtful; at home, in an office, at a gym, in a car.
Pamba uses exactly what you write. It never assumes a default ethnicity or skin tone, so name the one you want.
Examples:
- •"A woman in her mid-20s with long blonde hair, green eyes and freckles, wearing a cream hoodie, bubbly and chatty, filming in her bedroom."
- •"A mixed-race man in his early 30s, light brown skin, curly dark hair in a short top knot, wearing a denim jacket, laid-back and funny, filming in his car."
- •"A Black woman in her 30s with deep brown skin and natural coily hair in a puff, warm smile, wearing a mustard sweater, filming in a bright living room."
- •"A man in his 50s with a shaved head, a salt-and-pepper beard and reading glasses, calm and thoughtful, filming in a home office."
- •"A Korean-American woman in her late 20s with a sleek black bob, wearing a blazer, sharp and confident, filming at a desk."
If you need several presenters, click Add new avatar to describe each one in its own row.
3. Review the look and scenes
Click Generate and Pamba generates the avatar's appearance and a set of scenes: the same person in different settings. Each image spends image credits; the Regenerate and Generate more buttons show what they cost.
- •Not the right person? Edit the description and click Regenerate. Be blunt about what to fix ("darker skin", "older, around 50", "shorter hair").
- •Some scenes are off? Discard them one by one. Discarded scenes go to the trash chip in the corner, where you can bring them back.
- •Want more variety? Click Generate more on the last card for another batch.
Keep at least one scene; your avatar needs one to be created.
4. Pick a voice
Tap a voice to hear it and tick the one that fits. The preset voices are free. If none fit, generate a premium voice, which costs credits and is confirmed before it starts.
5. Create the avatar
Click Create Avatar. The avatar is saved to your workspace and is ready to pick on any new video. Open it to add more scenes, link a TikTok or Instagram account, or change its settings.
Changing an avatar you already have
You can change the look of any avatar, including one you picked during onboarding, by asking the chat assistant. Name the avatar and say what to change, for example:
- •"Give Maya auburn hair and hazel eyes, and make her skin a little darker."
- •"Make Jordan look older, around 45, with gray in his beard."
- •"Give Sam a church outfit and a sanctuary setting."
The assistant regenerates the appearance (this spends image credits) and shows you the result. If you'd rather start fresh, create a new avatar as above and delete the old one.
Tips
- •One avatar per posting account builds recognition. If your audience is varied, create a few avatars and give each its own account or content series.
- •Regenerate until the look is right. The avatar is the asset you reuse most, so it's worth a few tries.
- •If generation fails, retry with the same description: saved images are reused and you only pay for the missing ones.
- •Still not getting the look you need? Open the Support tab at the top of the sidebar and we'll help you get it right.
